Self-signed SSL cert not allowed in iOS app

  1. I have a self-signed SSL cert gating admin access to the admin consoles for my wordpress installations. I think this is causing the iOS worpress not to recognize the login credentials, so I'm unable to use the app now. Is there a solution for this (so that I can continue to use the app)?

  2. Hi wrlee,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I have some questions to help me understand what's happening:

What exactly is happening that makes it look like the self-signed cert is interfering with the app?
Are you seeing a particular error message?
What are you entering for your site's URL? It should be: http://handthingsdown.com/blog/

As far as a self-signed cert goes, that shouldn't be a problem as long as XML-RPC requests are not being blocked (and it doesn't appear that they are).

  3. Thank you for the response. I was having problems with evolutedesign.com (handthingsdown.com is not protected with a cert). I forgot that I had restored an iPad and, for some reason, the passwords were not preserved, so I thought it was the cert issue. Once I added the passwords, it was able to log in.

Evolutedesign.com does still seem to have some kind of problem (that the my other sites didn't have). When I refresh the posts-list, the spinner seems to go on forever. I waited a few minutes and it never completed.

Is there a log in the app where I can see HTTP or other web errors that the app might be incurring?

Yep! An activity log is available under Me > Settings > Support and you can enable the "Extra Debug" option for more detailed logging.

By the way, which version of the app do you have on your iPad? Version 4.5 is what's currently in the app store, with 4.6 coming just as soon as its approved by Apple.
