Reader page doesn't show featured image, like and comment button

  1. Hi there,

I use Wordpress app on my iphone and I follow my own blog there.
When I open the Reader page, where I see all blogs I follow, only my blog (self hosted) doesn't show features image, like and comment button. It also doesn't show full post when I click on the excerpt.
This problem only happens to my self hosted blog, even though I use Jetpack and all features function well in desktop or safari view.

Any idea how to fix it? Thanks

  2. Hi @thao.tran

It looks like the reader is seeing your blog's rss feed located at http://ourownbeauty.net/feed/. This will limit some of the features that are available.

This is a link to your blog in the web version of the reader: https://wordpress.com/read/blog/id/88211854. Try clicking the follow button at the top of the page. This should tell the reader that you want to follow a more full featured version of your blog's content.

    Cheers!

  3. Hi Eric,

It's there any way for the reader to automatically show my web version, without my viewers going to https://wordpress.com/read/blog/id/88211854 ? Because the existing followers still see my rss feed at /feed/ right?

    Thank you!

What the reader shows is going to depend on a few different factors, and how a user chooses to follow your blog.

I'm guessing if you check your blog's Reading settings at http://ourownbeauty.net/wp-admin/options-reading.php you'll see its set to show a summary instead of the full text in a feed. You might try changing this setting to show the full text instead. This should let users who follow your blog as a "feed" see more of your content, although they still will not see the like or comment buttons.

Users who follow your blog through the WordPress.com Reader should see the full featured version.
