Not a WordPress site!

  1. Hi!

When I try to add one of my sites to the iOS app, I get the message that it's not a WordPress site and that I can't connect to it with this app.

I was able to add the site to the Android app without issues.

What could be the problem here?

  2. Hi there Jan!

I can help you take a look and see why you are getting this message. Would you mind letting me know your site address url, starting with (http://)?

I'll be more than happy to help from there.

  3. Hi Nello!

    Thanks for responding.

    It's about the following site.

    Thanks a lot!!

  4. Hi Jan!

I checked the address you shared, and it seems like the XMLRPC file is blocked or not present on your site, so the app can't properly communicate with your site. Check this out:

Could you ask your hosting provider if they have a block in place to stop access to the XMLRPC file? In the meantime, to try to fix it, install the plugin that is available here:

Do it by following the instructions provided by the plugin (, and then activate the plugin. Remove your blog from the application and then add it again and try to log in with your self hosted site credentials.

If the file is present though, change the name of your xmlrpc.php file to a different one, but only change it after 'xmlrpc'. Example: xmlrpc.php> xmlrpc_wp.php. These errors can also happen if there is a plugin/theme that conflicts with XML-RPC.

To check whether a plugin is causing the conflict with the app, try deactivating all the plugins on your self-hosted site to see whether that fixes the issue. You can find a list of known plugin conflicts here:

    Here's more information about this:

Let me know how it goes!

  5. Hi Nello,

That plugin is already active and, like I said, with the Android app there was no issue adding this site.
My Android device is a phone, so I'd rather use my iPad Pro.

  6. I renamed the file. It's now:

But since it does work on Android, I don't think the site is the issue. It has to be the app, right?
