Log in simply stopped working

  1. Hey, About 6 months ago my log in on the iPhone app simply stopped working. I have not changed any passwords or log in information, and my log in on my mac browser continues to work properly. I deleted the linked site and attempted to re-authenticate, but I keep getting an error message and am locked out.

    Sorry to hear about the trouble. It would be helpful to know the exact error message you're seeing when you try to sign back in to the WordPress app.

    You might also try temporarily disabling any plugins you have installed, and switching to a default theme to see if a plugin or your current theme is causing a conflict.

    If you're still unable to sign in to the app, you might try enabling the Extra Debug feature and sharing the app's Activity Log here.
    - Tap the question mark icon in the top right of the screen to launch the Support screen.
    - Activate Extra Debug
    - Return to the sign in screen and attempt logging in again.
    - Return to the Support screen and choose Activity Logs
    - Find the current activity log. You can email yourself a copy and share it in this thread.

    We can examine the log for clues to any errors that are occurring.

  3. okay, I've fixed the problem and perhaps created a new one. I deleted this site from my list (and perhaps I should have mentioned that this is a "self-hosted" site. I re-entered all my log in information (which happens to be the same log in information as my wordpress.com hosted account - maybe that is another mistake I made years ago when I didn't know what I was doing), and now I can log in.

    However, none of my site's info is there. It says no posts (and I have 629 of them), no stats, no info at all.

    What do I try next?

    The app has two login forms, one for self-hosted blogs and one for accounts with WordPress.com. The sign-in screen has a button that switches between the two forms. The difference is the form for self-hosted blogs includes a field for your blog's URL while the WordPress.com form does not. If the credentials were the same for both your self-hosted blog and your WordPress.com account I'm guessing the WordPress.com form was what was used.

    Since it sounds like you don't use your WordPress.com account for much, you might try signing out of WordPress.com by clicking the Disconnect button under the Me tab, and then try signing in to your self-hosted blog via the self-hosted form.
