IP address of the APP bot

  1. Hello,

I've got one issue: on my self-hosted site, in order to avoid running into a "unable to sync"-error while trying to upload images from my Iphone to my site, I need to switch off the plugin "stop bad bots" as it appearently blocks the App. The author of the plugin recommends me to whitelist the IP address of the APPs bot. Questions: 1. Does wordpress for iOS use a bot at all? 2. Wahat are the IPs?

    Regards,
    Andreas

  2. Hi Andreas,

It depends on how your site is connected to the app. One thing you could do is connect your site using the Jetpack plugin. You could then whitelist Jetpack's IP as instructed here:

    https://jetpack.com/support/hosting-faq/#jetpack-whitelist

Please note that these IP addresses could change (or more could be added) at any time. For that reason, we recommend your host uses the machine-readable versions of these IP ranges in JSON or plain text format to automate configuration changes on their systems.

If you're only connected through the site address (XMLRPC), then the IP that the app sends a request from would be your local static IP. Since I imagine you're not always connecting from the same location, it may be a bit more challenging to set it up this way.

If you have any questions about this, don't hesitate to reach out.

    Thanks!
