I can't connect my website.

  1. I can't connect my website.
In my wordpress app for ios, in which I have several wordpress already registered, I want to add a new self-hosted one and it doesn't let me.
I get the following error when entering the address: Could not connect to the wordpress site. There is an invalid wordpress site at this address. Check the site address (url) you entered.
Of course the url is correct.
Comment that with another user of wordpress.com if I can access this site. But what I want is that with my personal user of wordpress.com I can have all the sites that I manage in the app and not have to change users every time I need to enter that site.
    The site is http://www.laencarnacion.com
Sorry for the English ... it's a google translation.
    Thank you.

  2. Hey there,

I ran your site http://www.laencarnacion.com/ through our mobile validator at https://xmlrpc.eritreo.it/ and it returned the following error:

"1000000 Sorry, we cannot find the RSD Endpoint link in the src code of the page. The RSD document contains the URL to the XML-RPC endpoint."

You'll want to please check with your hosting provider to find out if they allow XML-RPC on your site.

XML-RPC is a service that the WordPress app requires on your server. This problem is most commonly caused when a web hosting provider blocks XML-RPC. However, It can also happen if there is a plugin/theme that conflicts with it. This is most often the case with security plugins like WordFence or Securi.

To check whether a plugin is causing the conflict with the app, try deactivating all the plugins on your self-hosted site to see whether that fixes the issue. If it's a hosting issue where they use tools like fail2ban or ModSecurity, you can ask them to whitelist Jetpack's IP ranges. More information here: https://jetpack.com/support/hosting-faq/#jetpack-whitelist

Once you get that resolved, you should be able to add it to the WordPress mobile app under your same WordPress.com account to manage all of your sites in one place.

Please let us know if you continue to run into problems.

  3. As I mentioned, the App nor the validator is able to find the RSD endpoint in the source code of your site. The RSD document contains the URL to the XML-RPC endpoint.

XML-RPC is the protocol the mobile app uses to communicate with your site.

The standard link for your site would be http://www.laencarnacion.com/xmlrpc.php -- if you navigate to that URL you can see it returns an empty document. A working XML-RPC page would return "XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only." for example: https://wordpress.org/xmlrpc.php returns "XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only."

I recommend communicating with your host to see if they allow XML-RPC, or inspecting/configuring/disabling security plugins that often prevent XML-RPC from being accessed.

  4. Thank you very much for your help.
    It works perfectly.
    Greetings
