Cursor jumps to end of page, update button gray out

  1. A few days ago I found that when editing pages that the cursor continually jumps to the end of the page. I have to go back up to where I was typing and re-enter the text. Sometimes it will put the text at the end of the page. It is really getting difficult to update pages. I checked my keyboard and mouse by typing other documents and found that no problems exist with my keyboard or mouse.

Another problem that I have with pages (particularly long pages) is that WordPress will "gray out" the update button and I have to exit the page. I will lose all of my editing, but I now copy to the clipboard, re-access the page and paste in the text.

The above two problems are really making it difficult to update pages. Can these "glitches" be fixed?

    I am using WordPress 4.6.1.

  2. Hi @wpuckett59604,

Sorry to hear about the trouble.

    You mentioned

I checked my keyboard and mouse by typing other documents and found that no problems exist with my keyboard or mouse.

which makes me wonder if the problem is happening in the WordPress editor in a desktop browser? Is that correct or is this somehow happening in the WordPress for iOS mobile app's editor? Can you provide some more details so we can better understand what's going on?

    Thanks!
    Eric

  3. Hi:

Thanks much for your response. Yes, this is happening in the WordPress editor in a desktop browser. I am using Internet Explorer Version 11. I have a Dell Desktop machine running Windows 7. The cursor jump problem just started a few days ago. The problem with the update button "graying out" has been occurring for sometime. It seems to only occur on pages.

  4. Thanks @wpuckett59604

This forum is focused on the WordPress for iOS native app. We're probably not the best folks to ask about issues with WordPress in a browser.

If you were using the editor in your blog's wp-admin, you might ask the folks over at https://wordpress.org/support/ for assistance.

If you were using the editor on WordPress.com, you might check with the support team at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

That said, I'd guess that either group might encourage you to try using a different browser and see if the problem is specific to IE 11.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Thanks. I will try another browser and perhaps visit the other forums that you suggested. Windows did an update this week so perhaps Internet Explorer was updated and may have caused the problem.
