Wordpress and iPad 2

  1. Hello
I am trying to install WordPress on my iPad 2 but am having problems.
Can anybody explain how I go about this.
I have the Wordpress app on my iPad and when I click on it I get the message "please update your credentials" and i do not know what this means.
I have also tried to download Wordpress from their site and the Safari browser on the iPad cannot open the download.

    Thank you

  2. Could you please try to update the blog password by following the steps below:
    1. Start the app.
    2. Go to the Blogs list.
    3. Tap the Edit button.
    4. Tap the blog title.
    5. Insert the blog's password and save the changes.

If this does not work, you might have to remove the blog and re-add it from scratch within the app. Let us know if you need more details on how to accomplish this.

  3. Hello

    Thank you for your reply.

I will explain exactly what my situation is and let you know fully the problem I have.

I have a blog already with Wordpress and I would like to log into my account on my iPad and work on my blog as I do on my laptop or my home PC.

I have downloaded the app to my iPad and when I click on it I get 3 options which are

    1, Start a new blog at Wordpress.com

    2, Add blog at Wordpress.com

    3, Add self-hosted Wordpress blog

I have tried to login using each of the options and they do not sign me in.

I have tried to download Wordpress to my iPad and get the message that my browser Safari cannot open the download.

I might be trying to download the Windows version but do not know where to find a download for the iPad.

This is the stage I am at now and do not know what else to try.

    HELP ME PLEASE !!!!!

  4. Don't try and download WordPress through Safari, that won't work. You've probably got a self hosted WordPress blog. Can you share the URL?

  5. My website address is http://www.couponsavingsinfo.com

I think I am hosted by Brainhost.

  6. When try to use the app, I sign in and am asked to update my credentials. I do not know what this means.

  7. Right, did you try the steps in my first reply? If you have and are still having trouble, you can also try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it from the app store.

  8. I could not try what you said because I cannot get past the instruction to update my credentials.

  9. Hello

Do you know how I update my credentials please?

  10. Hello

A Laugh Out Very Loud at my expense.

What an IDIOT I really am !

That's all I had to do.

So simple and the one thing I did not think about trying.

A whole week wasted and things thrown around the house and broken.

A week of frustration and anger taken out on those I love.

Thank you so much for your help.

I really do feel so stupid.

Thank you again and best wishes.

  11. Hello again

I still have a problem ! Surprise, surprise.

I can view my Wordpress account but cannot edit, add content or do anything I want to with it.

Do you know why this is please ?

  12. Do you have 'Editor' or 'Administrator' access to the blog? The app works best with those roles.

  13. Sorry but you will have to excuse me but my knowledge of Wordpress is very limited and I need instructions given to me explained very simply so I do not know whether I have the above.

I still cannot access my blog via the app because as I said earlier it ask's me to update my credentials and I do not know what this means or how to do it.

I am logging into my blog via the link you posted http://www.couponsavingsinfo.com/wp-login.php?

I cannot see any content in the editing boxes or edit, add or update anything.

Do you understand what I am trying to say ?

It's difficult for me to explain because of my lack of knowledge of Wordpress.

  14. Yes, I think I'm following you. When you are in the post editor, try tapping the 'HTML' tab, as the iPad does not currently support the rich text editor.

  15. I have already tried that and I can see the HTML code but this code shows in both post editors.

I do not know HTML code so with not be able to add any content this way.

I assume I can compile any content using a website building program like frontpage to add content and then just change to the HTML code age and copy and paste into Wordpress.

It is so annoying as this was a major reason for buying an iPad and moving away from using my small laptop when away from home.

  16. I had the same problem as reported by the original poster and was able to get around it by altering my password to not include either the dash (-) or underscore characters (_) in my password.

To confirm - my login did not work with either a dash or underscore in the password but did work when my password no longer contained either of those characters.

  17. @goodreds -- Thanks for reporting the issue.
We're looking into this problem and will post updates as we have more information on this.

  18. @goodreds -- I tested the issue by changing my password on different WordPress installations, but i can't replicate your issue. I can login to WP even if the password contains an underscore or a dash inside it. Are you using a self-hosted installation of WordPress.org?

  19. @daniloercoli - I'm using a number of self-hosted Wordpress installs (I'm a web designer). I tried a different site after mine and as you also found, was unable to replicate my original 'fix' by removing underscores and dashes from a similar password that also would not allow me to login via the iPad app. However it did allow me to login once I used a simple password (i.e. funky99) rather than the longer numbers and letters password previously assigned. Hmm... not really sure what is going on, to be honest.

I'm in the middle of moving house as we speak but once I'm finished in a day or two, I'll do a bit more testing at this end to see if I can find out exactly what is going on and then report back.

Thanks for your help so far. :)

  20. I have the same problem mgcoupon described, except that my blog is hosted at Wordpress. I have the app for iPhone, and it works fine. There, I just launched it and entered info for my blog. With the iPad app, I downloaded it, but when launching I get the following options:

    1, Start a new blog at Wordpress.com

    2, Add blog at Wordpress.com

    3, Add self-hosted Wordpress blog

There is no option to log into an existing blog. How do I log into an exiting blog hosted at Wordpress?

  21. Duh... Can't believe how dumb I was. Of course option 2 was the one I needed, and for some reason my brain just totally slipped. Sorry!!

  22. How do I manage plugins via the iPad browsers? I don't see plugins or appearance, themes, widget at all.

  23. Moderate, edit, or reply to comments — it’s never been easier to stay in touch with your readers. For popular posts, you can quickly bulk moderate comments through the intuitive interface.

Creating and editing posts is at the heart of the WordPress experience. Write, add photos, check your spelling, and even create links without having to write a single line of code or HTML. When you’re writing and you’d like a bit more room, just rotate the screen. WordPress will automatically adjust to a more comfortable widescreen layout.

On the iPhone, sharing your location when you post to your WordPress blog is a cinch. Just tap the Geotag icon on the Write screen, and watch as WordPress locates you on the map. It’s a great way to share where you were when you posted to your blog.

Add as many photos as you like — WordPress will automatically insert them into your post. Both high resolution and web optimized photos look and work great.

    follow it

  24. I'm having the same issue. Blog is self hosted and installed on a subdomain. The primary domain blog installed with no issue but no such luck with the subdomain.

Problem was user error with the password. Disregard :)
