New App crashes on initiation
-
iGlide - I appreciate you sharing your opinions with us. But simply saying "it doesn't work" isn't enough for us to track down an issue and resolve it. Why doesn't it work? What happens? Where does it fail? What sort of error message do you see, if any?

I've installed 2.6.1 and it runs.......but I can't input text in landscape, so while it's an improvement on 2.6 it still isn't working like the old version I had a week ago. I'm just amazed that people with an old working WP app can still update and find that they can't blog anymore. That just seems stupid and it's obviously annoying the users. Why leave a bad app up as it will simply alienate more users the longer it is available. The reviews for 2.6 in the app store would be amusing if they weren't so bad. I like WP and want to blog from the road. If I can't rely on it what is it worth.....? -
I think the lesson learned here us if you rely on this app, or any piece of software for that matter, so much that it will cause major disruptions if not working properly then a good rule of thumb is to wait to upgrade until the release is proven.
Sure, it is inconvenient that the past 2 release have not worked well but when it comes down to it is free software. WordPress in general has had such a good track record over the years that I personally cut them a lot of slack when they expand in other directions like this. As users the best thing is to be thankful and supportive by providing them usuable, constructive feedback, when an issue comes up. That's what community is all about.

Hi everyone --
Thanks for all the feedback and bug reports.
To help Chris and everyone involved track and resolve the various bugs -- please keep these threads to a single issue, and start a new thread if you have something new to add.
If any of you with issues with the latest 2.6.1 want to help out, please look at joining the beta team (details on http://ios.wordpress.org), and also downloading the Apple SDK with the iPhone simulator. With the simulator you'll be able to run the latest version (not yet in the Apple store) and check and see if the bug fixes work as they should with your own sites. You can grab the SDK here: http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/ios/index.action
