"failed" error when attempting to post
-
In the current IOS version of WordPress, I have no errors when I start it up. I am able to bring up the dashboard screen within the application. However, when I try to post, on either the iphone or ipad version of wordpress, I get an error message of simply "failed". No other error explanation is given.
I have a self-hosted blog.
I have removed and re-installed the app.
I've re-entered in the password. -
I have exactly the same situation. I am attempting to add an entry to my existing blog, which I have been able to update on the iPad in the past. Now after creating and editing, when I try to publish, it fails and leaves the entry in a Failed folder.
Was there an update to Wordpress or iOS that broke the app?

Can you guys try again over a different network connection?

I have the same problem since the upgrade.
I am repeatedly asked to login, which I am able to do successfully. I then get the error message "Couldn't sync. Bad login/pass combination." My two options are 'Need Help?' and 'OK'.
'OK' sends me into a loop to do the same thing again.
For kicks, I pressed 'Need Help?' and nothing happened.

I tried (again) deleting and re-installing the app. My draft from the app did update to my laptop.
So I guess this works - for now.

Success... The bad login/pass combination at opening seemed to imply a problem with the current blog, not the application, esp. since there seems to be no way to input or change the WordPress login in the iPad app.
So after backing up the new content - on the iPad - I removed my current blog and added it back in from WordPress online.
Everything now works - no message opening WordPress, I can edit and publish.
No need to delete and reinstall the app.
Thanks for your help.

I've tried both on my local wifi connection and directly thru AT&T. I'll drive by one of the open wifi's and see if the same error happens.

Tried this tonight on another connection, and the same error, a generic "Failed".

@evilimp:
I'm sure it's not a network connection issue...
Since you and I seem to have had the most similar situation, I suggest you try what I did. Although the cause of the problem may have been a WordPress app or iOS update, the solution appears to be reinstalling the blog, not the app. I.e., remove the blog (after backing up the content somewhere to be safe), then opening WordPress either online on on the app and adding the blog back in.
I was able to add the blog back in from the online version saved on WordPress - perhaps you can do the same...
I think WordPress on the iPad burped from something, and offering it a clean new blog seems to make it happy.

Well, I'm a bit hesitant to back it up, wipe it and reinstall as I have quite a few posts, and I'd hate to accidentally do something to erase them... It worked fine in previous versions of the software, alas...

Looking at the settings of my personally run wp blog, under Settings / Writing, there's a mention of "Enable the Atom Publishing Protocol".
Does the IOS app use this protocol? I have it normally unchecked. I do have "Enable the WordPress, Movable Type, MetaWeblog and Blogger XML-RPC publishing protocols." checked.

The app will use AtomPub for video upload, if it's enabled.

I found the plugin that was causing the problem: Role Scoper. Once I zero-ed in and disabled it, I was able to use the Wordpress IOS app again.
