Captions and text for photos

   I am sorry if I am missing something basic but when using the iPad I cannot add text to the pics I upload or get the iPad to scroll down to he HTML code that includes pics, the scroll doesn't go to the bottom on the edit page. What am I doing wrong? Sould I post one at a time then add text and then another etc?
   Thanks new iPad wordpress user working on the kinks before traveling
