Can't log in to WP app for iOS

  1. I have a blog that I maintain on wordpress.org. I have recently updated the login password. I have now downloaded the wordpress iOS app, but I can't log in. I have a self-hosted blog, and the error I get when I log in says "Sorry, can't log in. server error. requested method wp.getUsersBlogs does not exist." What does this mean, and what can I do so I can use this app on my iOS devices? Thanks.

  2. Please update your WordPress install to the latest version and try again.

  3. Thanks Dan, do you mean the app on my phone or the version of WordPress on my blog?

  4. @jenniferlouie I think Dan means the version of WordPress on your blog :)

I have the same log in problem. I have the latesest of everything and it says to "update my credtindtials"

  8. info@cirugiaminimainvasiva.com @almada @texhog - I wonder if you are using weird characters within your password. Could you please try setting a simple temporary password on your account and try to login on the iOS app again. Please make sure you're using the correct combination of username/password on the login screen. Do not use the email address in the username field.

If that doesn't help enable the extra debug mode, available into setup screen, and send us the log file to mobile [at] automattic.com (Instructions here: http://wpiphonedev.wordpress.com/extra-debug/)

  9. I am having the same issue. I have the newest version of Wordpress and have also set a simple temporary password. It is just not working, and to be honest I am geteting upset that it has been this wway for almost a week now.

  10. Can any of you create a test account on one of the blogs where you are having this problem?

  11. I am also experiencing problems getting into the app after the latest upgrade. It wants me to begin from scratch, adding a new blog, there are no options available to go to the one I have already been using on the app. It won't recognise my URL.

  12. For those getting the check you credentials error on trying to log in double check which login you are using.

This is a little embarrassing but I was getting that until I checked and realised that instead of typing in my site login username and password I was typing in my Wordpress username and password.

In my case they are two different username/password login details so not the same. Thus the 'Check your Credentials" error....

  13. The app login asks for "Wordpress Username" and that's what I'm entering. Still doesn't recognise my URL.

I don't understand why every time there's an upgrade I have to start from scratch again. This is the third time. At least the other times the login worked!

  14. There may be an underlying error here but just for others reading the thread: it's very common to mistakenly put in the WordPress.org credentials (used for forums such as this one and the development blogs) with the site's username and password. You should use your site's username and password whenever asked.

  15. I'm also experiencing this issue with the latest Wordpress app for iPad. Using credentials that I've verified as working when accessing my self-hosted blogs's admin interface via the web, I get an error about not being able to sign in when using the same via the app. The password I'm using DOES have some special characters in it (ie not a-z0-9). This behavior seems new but I also recently updated my password and so it could be that the app has always had trouble with special characters and I'm just now triggering it. I confirmed that I'm not accidentally using my Wordpress.com/org login info.

    Thanks,
    Chris

  16. Just for the record, my problem turned out to be caused by interference from a Mobile App (GoMobi) version of my website that I had installed on my server. WordpressiOS contacted GoMobi, who sent me some code to correct the problem, and it went away.

  17. @ChrisHardie to figure out if it's the password or the server, you can try adding a second test account to your blog with a simple password, and then add the blog to the app using that account.

If it also fails, you might want to check out http://dev.ios.wordpress.org/extra-debug/ and send us a log file to see if there are any details there that could help us figure out what's wrong.
