A change to make for adding a blog

  1. When I went to add my blog, I put down its URL just like the example in the textfield says, example.wordpress.org. Every time I did this, it said the XML-RPC could not be found. I searched all over the www and tried fixing things on my webserver. No luck. Then, something came to me; instead of using the format that the textfield example presents (the example.wordpress.org), I tried putting http:// before, and what do ya know, it worked!

Alright, I know this is a quite trivial thing and sort of a stupid part on my behalf. However, if you're going to present an example for adding a new URL, it should be the right format....

My simple suggestion? Change the example from example.wordpress.org to http://example.wordpress.org so the user knows that the http:// necessary. Also, have it somehow auto-change a badly formatted address.

Just out of curiosity, am I the only one who's finding this a problem (maybe it has something to do with my virtual hosts), or have other people run into this? To throw it out there, I'm running Apache2 with virtual hosts on an Ubuntu 8.10 server.

  2. Holy moly it worked!

Weird how it was needed for one blog but not another.
