The solution is simple, force close the app and re-open it, just like allaboutcheryl found out above.

What I did was to close the app, double click on the home button to bring up the list of apps at the bottom of the screen. Closed out the Wordpress icon. Then when I went back into it, it was working as it should.

It sends me right back to my iPad desk top. This is extremely annoying because up to now this has been a very good app and is the most used for me.
